Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both attorneys. When she was five, she relocated from London to Oxfordshire to attend The Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she decided she wanted to be an actor. She trained for several years in Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a part time theatre school in Oxford where she was taught acting and singing. By the time she turned 10 years old, Emma took part in numerous Stagecoach plays and productions. Casting began in 1999 to cast Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was discovered by Emma's Oxford Theater teacher. David Heyman announced to Emma that after eight consecutive auditions Emma and Rupert Grint were chosen as Hermione and Harry Potter. Emma's first film appearance coincided with the release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2002). It broke all records for the opening weekend and numbers, and was the top-grossing 2001 film. The film was praised by reviewers, and so were the performances of its three new actors. The Daily Telegraph, a well-read British newspaper, was awed by her for her performance. Emma later won five awards to honor her role in the film.
